We are operating a triage system to make best use of the available appointments we have. As part of this the reception staff will now be asking patients "Why they need to be seen". This is to ensure you receive the most appropriate medical care, from the most appropriate health professional at the most appropriate time.
The reception staff are not being nosey when they ask this. If you contact NHS 24 you will speak with a receptionist, if you attend A&E you will speak with a receptionist.
Our reception staff are no different from other reception staff, and like all members of NHS they are bound by confidentiality rules.
Please be mindful of this information when you contact the surgery and please do not take your frustration out on our reception staff as they are trying their best to help you under difficult circumstances.
Please also use LENS (Lanarkshire Eye Network Scheme) at your local optician for any eye related problems, and also use the Minor Ailments Scheme at your local pharmacy when appropriate. Also use your dentist for any dental related problems.
Appointments are made on the day. On the day you wish to see the doctor, phone the surgery as early as possible to make an appointment. There are two types of appointment available:
- A telephone consultation. This is ideal if you wish to seek your doctor’s advice, or to speak about something which you feel does NOT require examination e.g. a medication review.
- A routine consultation. This appointment is to see the doctor face to face.
We also have a limited number of "workers" appointments which can be booked up to one week in advance. When telephoning for an appointment just ask the receptionist for a workers appointment.
Nursing appointments can be booked in advance. All appointments can be booked either in person at the surgery or by telephone.
